Making the glass work harder
Glass in a Marlow shop or office is doing several jobs. It has to let daylight in, keep passers by from seeing your desks, tell people what you do, and be visible enough that nobody walks into it. Film and printed vinyl handle all four.
Our workshop is at Marlow Bottom, so this is genuinely local work for us. High Street and West Street shopfronts, the offices around Globe Park, and plenty of first floor windows above the town centre. We measure, make and fit ourselves.
What we apply to glass
Most of it is cast or calendered vinyl, cut or printed depending on the design, applied wet so it can be positioned before it sets. Frosted and etched effect films are the workhorse. Solar and privacy films are a different product and we specify those by the glazing and the aspect.

How we work in Marlow
Application is done on site, usually in the morning while the glass is cool and dry. Cold glass, direct sun and dust are the three things that ruin a wet application, so we plan the visit around them rather than turning up and hoping.
For a shop we can work before opening on request, at extra cost, so the doors are usable by trading hours. For an office we cut the film in the workshop to the surveyed sizes, which keeps the mess and the time on site down. Removal of old film is quoted separately, because sun baked vinyl takes a lot longer to lift than fresh.
Coverage
Marlow is on our doorstep, so getting out to measure is easy once the price is agreed. We cover the town centre, Globe Park and the surrounding villages, and we run out to the wider Thames Valley from the same workshop with the film already cut to size.

Frequently asked questions
Building Regulations expect large areas of glass to be marked so people can see them. In practice that means a visible band or pattern at roughly 850 to 1000mm and again at 1400 to 1600mm from the floor. We can do it as plain frosted bands or as your logo repeated across the glass.
Yes, that is what frosted and etched effect films are for. They diffuse the view without blocking daylight, so the room stays bright but nobody outside can make out faces or screens. A graded film, solid at the bottom and clearing towards the top, works well on ground floor windows.
It depends on the window. Glass that takes full sun all afternoon is much harder on film than a north facing pane, so we do not put a number of years on it. If there is a problem with our work in the first 12 months, we come back and sort it. Cheap film goes purple and brittle. We use quality material and we will tell you if a particular window is going to be harder on it than the rest.
One way vision works by having brighter light on the outside. After dark, with the lights on inside, the effect reverses and people can see in. If the window needs privacy in the evening as well, a frosted film or blinds behind the graphic is the better answer.
Yes. Old vinyl and adhesive come off with heat, a blade and patience, then the glass is cleaned back properly before anything new goes on. We quote removal separately because a window that has had film baking on it for a decade takes a lot longer than one done last year.
