Quiet lettering, properly made
Bronze suits Mayfair. So does unlacquered brass, satin stainless and a deep, hand sprayed painted finish. The buildings around Berkeley Square and the streets off Grosvenor Street are stone, stucco and painted timber, and the signage that works on them is generally small, flat, precise and expensive to get wrong.
We make it at our workshop in Marlow Bottom and fit it with our own installers, working to the building's access rules.

Most requests here fall into two groups. A discreet name at the entrance, and a stronger piece inside at reception. The first is usually flat cut metal, 6mm to 10mm thick, fixed on short locators. The second can be a built-up fabricated logo with hidden halo lighting, sized to the wall behind the desk.

How we work in Mayfair
Access here is tight and often shared, so we plan the install around loading windows and building management rules. RAMS and insurance details are supplied on request ahead of the date. Floors and thresholds are protected, dust is contained, and we clear up properly before we leave.
Where a wall finish is stone or fine plaster, we template first and drill once. Colour and finish samples come to you before manufacture starts. If a set needs to match an existing office elsewhere, we work from the original references, so the two read as the same brand rather than two attempts at it.

Frequently asked questions
For an entrance name, 6mm to 10mm brass or bronze usually reads well at close range. Below that the edge starts to look flimsy. Above it, on a small frontage, the letters begin to dominate. We will show you samples at a couple of thicknesses first.
Yes. Left unlacquered, bronze and brass darken and soften with handling and weather. If you would rather hold the original tone we can lacquer or wax the faces before they are fitted.
Yes. Typeface, spacing, colour references, minimum sizes and clear space are all applied at drawing stage, and the setting out goes to you for approval. Where guidelines do not cover a three dimensional version, we propose a depth and finish for you to sign off.
Nearly always. We keep the working area screened and use extraction on the drill. Installs are Monday to Friday as standard, and early, late or weekend work can be arranged on request, at extra cost.
For flat cut metal, allow around two to three weeks from approved artwork. Fabricated and illuminated pieces take longer because of the build and testing. Sample approval and building management sign off usually set the real date, so it is worth starting both early.
